NZ Ceramic Teko teko

Tekoteko is a Māori language term for a carved human form, representing Maori tribal ancestors and in general protection and guardianship. Depicted in a defiant stance with a protruding tongue to ward of evil and intruders. The eyes of the tekoteko are made of inlayed paua shell.
